You can email the list and expect thoughtful, prompt replies from people who are familiar with the Pacific Crest Trail and general hiking/backpacking know-how.

http://mailman.backcountry.net/mailman/listinfo/pct-l

Have a safe, fun trip!Liz.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02495821851485088681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2261402677272782650.post-13562357919255802772009-06-02T19:43:44.027-07:002009-06-02T19:43:44.027-07:00What a great story. MOst of the time I have done in one day. This time we will stay the night at base camp. I am in good shape. I am bringing up some folks that are in very good shape but have not done Whitney before. I am struggling with the question of if I should go for the summit the second day.

Some questions:

Do you need cramp ons? Ice Pick?

How dangerous is it?

Should I go for it (weather permitting)?

Thanks for your help. I really do not want to settle for not making it to the top.

Please email me back at marcovakili@roadrunner.com

Thank you!!!Marcohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10092306171978589723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2261402677272782650.post-73519632706669257302009-06-02T19:40:56.275-07:002009-06-02T19:40:56.275-07:00What a great story. This time I am spending the night at base camp. I want to go to the summit on the second day.

Some questions:

Do you need cramp ons? A pick?

How important is it to have experience with them (I have none)?

How dangerous was going to the top?

How important was it to have an experienced buddy? I have a couple guys going with me that are very fit but not experienced hikers.

Should I go for it?

Thanks for your advice! I really don't want to settle for not going to the top.

Marco

ps - email me at marcovakili@roadrunner.com

Thanks!!!Marcohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10092306171978589723noreply@blogger.com
