Blizzard Hits Santa Barbara's Mountains, 3/18/12

Winter returned to Santa Barbara this weekend, dropping 2-3 inches of snow down to about 2500ft. It came as quickly as it left but for a couple of hours, Santa Barbara had the look of ski resort town with snow capped mountains all around.   View the Santa Barbara Blizzard photo album below.

A Message From SB Area High School Mountain Bike Team

Hi All-

Exciting things are happening for high school mountain biking here in Santa Barbara. Just 9 days from now area bikers will race their first race against some 30 other teams in the SoCalDirt league that us part of the NICA national movement for Interscholastic XC racing nationwide.

But we could use your help. Several of our registered riders and a couple of interested others need decent bikes to use between now and the end of the race season in mid-May. A couple are using 20 year old 35 lb'ers. Do you have a bike you could loan our program for these 3 months? Your help would be greatly appreciated! Both boys and girls-suitable bikes are appreciated.

Thank you for any potential help you can provide these young people (it is an all-volunteer effort, now in its 3rd year locally - 1st year we had 2 kids, then last year 12, now we are going to 4  teams and maybe 25 kids).
